This year marks the 30th anniversary of Able-Aid’s foundation. We have been serving the local community of Leigh-on-Sea and South Essex for three decades.
Based on the London Road, our location has made us a proud mainstay of the South Essex area. Anybody travelling from Hadleigh through Leigh, Westcliff to Southend-On-Sea or vice versa will have seen our showroom at some stage. They may have spotted the Mobility Scooters on display outside, our flags waving, and our windows filled with the latest aids for care and mobility.
Able-Aid has always been family-run. Peter Webberley built the company from the ground up, but it wouldn’t have endured as it has without the help of his family. Some of Peter’s first helpers were his children, their first job out of school being working for Able-Aid. At some point, the whole family has at some stage or another been involved with the business. That includes the day-to-day running of the store to big picture planning. Peter retired in late 2024; his third son now manages the store.
The shop has always set out to make genuine care and consideration the forefront of what we do. Our assessments and advice are always given with the sole purpose of delivering the best solution for the customer. That is also why we only stock products we believe in and why we offer an expansive hire selection as well as products for purchase.
While we hope many will never need our products, we are always there for the people of South Essex if and when they do. If you do have any concerns and wish to speak to our team, head on over to our contact page. Alternatively, if you are based in South-Essex, you can book an assessment and either meet us in-store or we can come to you.
