On the boot scooters across our range, removing the seat, battery and then disassembling the scooter is remarkably easy. When you know what you’re doing, it will not be an obstacle to your day at all.
Follow these simple steps.
Step 1 – Remove the Basket
If you have a solid basket on your tiller, this should be able to be unhooked by pulling it up and off the catch holding it in place.
Step 2 – Detatch the Seat
Removing the seat can be as firmly lifting the seat in a clean upward motion. Some scooters may require you to pull up underseat handle in order to swivel it to the right position.
Extra tip: If you find that the seat, even folded, is difficult to store, you might be able to unscrew and remove the arms too.
Step 3 – Remove the Battery
On some models, this is as easy as pulling up the battery by the built in handle. Some might have a small catch or lever which can easily be used to release the battery. Depending on the battery type, you might be surprised by how light the batteries are. Lithium batteries are especially light to handle.
Step 4 – Fold down the Tiller
Loosen the tiller by turning the circular handle in an anti-clockwise motion. You will begin to feel the tiller loosen. Lower the tiller down and tighten it again to keep it in place. To keep the tiller straight, there might be another turn handle at the base of the tiller.
Extra tip: Once free and Step 4 is complete, the folded down and locked tiller makes a convenient handle for lifting the front end of the scooter. This part is often the heaviest individual component.
Step 5 – Pull up the Quick-Release Pin
Next is give a light pull to the quick-release pin that looks like a black plunger. This will unhook the rear part from the front and leave you with a fully disassembled scooter.
