How Our Care Chair Assessments Work

Read time: 3 min

Finding the right seating solution can make a world of difference to comfort, independence, and overall quality of life. Our care chairs are purpose-built to meet a wide range of individual needs, from mobility challenges to long-term health conditions.

The core to our assessment process is understanding that every person is different, which is why we offer personalised care chair assessments designed to help you find the perfect fit.

Why Choose a Care Chair?

Care chairs are ideal for individuals with limited mobility or declining health who need specialised seating that offers comfort, safety, and support. While wheelchairs and riser recliners are often the first options people consider, care chairs provide unique benefits; this is especially true for those who are no longer weight-bearing or who need postural support throughout the day.

Our chairs are designed to reduce strain, promote better posture, and make day-to-day life more comfortable for both the user and their caregivers.

Our Care Chair Options

We offer a versatile range of care chairs to suit different needs and lifestyles:

Indoor Care Chairs – These chairs are fitted with castor wheels, making them easy to move between rooms at home or within care facilities. Lightweight yet supportive, they’re ideal for everyday use in a controlled environment. Popular examples of this are the Adelphi and the Hilton.

Wheelchair-Style Care Chairs – Models such as the Rea Clematis and Icon 125 feature tilt-in-space technology for enhanced comfort and pressure relief. Some versions are even self-propelled, allowing users to move independently where possible, offering both freedom and flexibility.

What is Tilt-In-Space?

Tilt-in-space is a clever seating mechanism that allows the entire chair, from seat to back, to tilt backwards as one unit. This keeps the angles between the hips and knees constant, reducing pressure on the body and minimising discomfort.

For individuals who spend long periods seated, this feature can help prevent pressure sores, improve circulation, and reduce the need for multiple transfers throughout the day.

High-Back Chairs

Our range also includes bariatric high-back chairs, designed to provide a sturdy, supportive seating option for individuals recovering from surgery, such as hip replacements, or those who need extra reinforcement. While they aren’t as adjustable as our tilt-in-space models, these chairs are built for strength, stability, and postural support.
