So what is the zero-gravity angle anyway? Unfortunately, it doesn’t mean that you will be floating around the bed or living room. Instead, it is a resting position originally developed by NASA to assist astronauts during liftoff that can be applied to most adjustable care beds.
It is a pressure-relieving position that is achieves the optimum weight distribution for the user. It can be achieved with any adjustable or profiling bed that can achieve head and foot elevation.
What the user needs to do is raise both head and foot up to between approximately 120° and 128°. The feet should then be kept level so that the knees are roughly bent at the same level as the chest. This will reduce discomfort across the body.

There are a variety of benefits that the zero-gravity position brings. For instance, the redistribution of weight reduces the amount of pressure upon the hips, spine and shoulders. This alleviates joint and muscle pain as well as reduces the risk of sores for those confined to their bed for much of their day.
One invisible benefit, that may not be immediately apparent but is great for long-term health, is improved circulation. The elevated position of the legs above the heart makes it easier for blood to return from the feet. This therefore reduces the risk of swelling in the legs.
For those who suffer from severe acid reflux, the elevated head position will help alleviate this. Having the head in this position prevents acid from flowing into the oesophagus.
