A hub for antique dealers from across Essex, based in a quaint country village.
A collective of eighty antique dealers makes Battlesbridge a unique offering to all visitors. Battlesbridge is recognised across the country for the different wares on offer. In addition, its rural location upon the River Crouch makes it a lovely spot to lounge and have lunch. Photo by Terry Joyce.
Mobility Summary
Battlesbridge Antiques Centre provides plenty of unique things to see and wares to buy. However, the older structures, the prime example of the iconic Old Mill, are limited in their accessibility. Steep stairwells and unlevel floors will restrict access for wheelchair users and halls will be too tight for mobility scooters. Outside areas are mostly accessible and vendors will help customers where they can.

Things to do:
Shopping
With 80 vendors, there is plenty on offer from different sellers on the site. From vintage toys, old shop signs, to handmade crafts. There is truly a lot on offer, especially for those looking for a nostalgic experience.
Accomodation
Battlesbridge has a local guesthouse called Frasers and also a caravan park. While accessibility to these venues is limited, it can provide a good base for mobile friends and family.
Food and Drink
There is a wide range of tea rooms and cafes around the site with takeaway options too. The local pub is also open seven days a week; it shares a car park with the antiques centre. Some cafes are quite cramped and require the use of steps to access.
Activities
Aside from the catering and fishing options, there is a beautiful nature trail connecting the Waterside Park to the Wildlife Trust Reserve. The Wind in the Willows trail begins at the reserve.
There are birdwatching and nature hides along the trail with great views of the water.
The Waterside Park has a children’s play area.
Transport
Battlesbridge Antiques Centre is a 5-10 minute walk from Battlesbridge Train Station. The no.3 bus also runs through it.
